Biyografi
Bükreş’in kenar mahallelerinden birinde doğdu. İlkokulu Tabacari okulunda okudu. İlk kez lisedeyken Ion Heliade Rădulescu ‘da sahne aldı. 1934'te yazar ve aynı zamanda o zamanki partneri Sandu Eliad'ın tavsiyesiyle “Cărăbuş Theatre of Constantin Tănase”e katıldı. 2 Haziran 1937'de Mary Atanisu adıyla Alhambra and Gioconda müzik sahnesinde yerini aldı.
